Siutated between the Atlantic and the bocage countryside, the Gardens of the Loriot are almost on the road from La La Roche-sur-Yon (12 kms) to Les Sables d'Olonne (20 kms), at 5 kms from Venansault.
Comme and spend 2 hours of pure delight in these peaceful Gardens which surrond their central pond.
Bamboo lovers will discover more than 130 species of "gigantic grass" brought back by botany and adventure enthousiasts from Asia, Africa and America.
The world's exotic flowers and plants lovers will be able, as they stroll along, to admire more than 1000 species, each of them in its time playing its role as seasons pass by. They invite yo to dreaming and travelling in your mind.
The gardens, which lay out on several plots of bocage land, whose hundred-year-old hedges have been preserved on 5 hectares, harmoniosusly cohabit with wilder pieces of land and with the enclosed field where the donkeys live !
Thanks to the environmental gardeners' daily care and attention, you'll have the opportunity to watch the native flowers as they com into bloom with the new seasons : orchids, foxgloves, centauries, aster, irises, marguerites, camomiles, spiked purple lossestrifes...
To you greatest delight, you 'll dicover bamboo objects and instruments animated thanks of the magic of water : water wheels, shishi odoshi, fountains, water pipes and water jets. Ten ornamental ponds of different sies will be covered with their blankets of exotic water plants as the seasons go by..
From May to July, you'll have the opportunity to hear the lelodious song o the golden oriole which is the living emblem and symbol of the gardens.,Seated on the coloured water lilies leaves, the green frogs will also delight you. On the side o the large pond, nearly all the year round, you'll be able to see the kingfisher flying there and back between the trees and further up in the air ; you'll also have the opportunity to admire the common buzzards flying around.
Here and there, deep into a grove of bamboos or in the canopy of an old tree, a few magic scenes will leave an unforgettable mark in your mind while you will, with pleasure, lose your bearings in the vendee countryside..
